As much as it disgusts me, all the talk is about Matthews and McDavid and Eichel is little more than an afterthought as far as the media is concerned...they (CM/AM) play on Canadian teams and have been anointed the media darlings and future of hockey by the Canadian media...as much as I would like it, Eichel not mentioned in those conversations.

The Calder nomination snub is just the beginning of the nauseating coverage that is to come.

I was PRAYING that Matthews would not follow up his first game with multiple points. As a Canadian I don't want to hear about how God is back and he's a hockey player from the Toronto Media..

3-0 oilers. Bylsma spins this as defence getting better. Lehner gives him the death stare.

Great post Michael. As an Oiler fan, it is not fun to see your stars get injured. Speedy recovery for Jack. I really like the structure of Buffalo's team and not unlike the Oilers, experience and a few moves here and there should have both teams in the playoffs for some time. Looking forward to the matchup tonight as both teams play an exciting brand of hockey.

I don't think McEichel is a thing. Connor is on another level. Like it or not.

There is not anyone who will dispute that McDavid is on another level.

McEichel was the term used going into last years draft. Not just in Buffalo, but in all media.

The term came to represent how important it was to finish last to guarantee one of those players.

I have to agree. Connor is in a class by himself. I believe that the future comparisons will be between Austen and Jack.

Stand McFly up at the blue line a couple of times and Oilers are done.

Lovely. Today in my pool I have McD, Draisaitl, Eberle, and Larsson. And Lehner in net.

I predict Sammy Reinhart and ROR step up with Eichel/Kane out. Okposo playing?

Nobody stick handles like "Auston". He has a complete game, and size. Eichel can't compare, different players..........and if you stand McFly up at the blue line a couple of time you take away a huge part of his game. In the warm-up against Calgary the other day McFly was practicing his stick handling in and around a group of pucks on the ice and his skills were clearly an order of magnitude below Matthews.

Yes, Matthews with his whopping two NHL games under his belt has clearly proven he's the best to ever play the game. He is a God among flies! Do you Toronto guys ever get tired of being so full of yourselves?

Matthews was invisible last night. Marner looked great in both games. McDavid has been great in both his games. Good luck standing him up at the blue line. He needs 1 step to humiliate 95% of the leagues D.

I almost feel like we should start Nilsson tonight. Either he steps up against his old team, or he takes the blow out for Lehner

thx...I said last year that it will be the last time for a while that we see both in the bottom-third of the league...even with eichel's injury, i'm sticking to that

There goes your RB 1. It's almost getting comical.

Edit: Nice to see him jogging, false alarm. I really thought that was it.

Going to be a rough night I think. It will be fun to watch Edmonton's skill this evening.

Loving the glowing remarks about the oilers Michael. Been years since I think they've deserved any kind of credit like that

But let's not get ahead of ourselves. While it's true that Connor has been jaw droppingly good, and the oilers have some weapons up front, dropping 7 goals in game 1 really doesn't tell the whole story.
Elliot was just horrible in that game and never gave the flames a chance.
Both teams didn't play all that well.
Game 2 was a solid game from the oilers though.

They've got some confidence right now, but I don't think we really know if the organization has turned a corner till about game 20. Cautiously optimistic about playing a banged up Sabres team, (we know your pain)but it's anything but a slam dunk
